BUILDING THE BLACK GATE
Part three: The Towers of the Teeth

Step 17:
To fill up the empty spaces between the Carchost fins we're going to produce thirty-two 'brickwork' tablets. Brace yourself: more sawing, cutting and filing is coming your way!
You probably don't want to do the drawing of the next elements yourself; you find all necessary templates ready to hand at the downloads. Glue the Gothmog A, B, C and D templates onto 4mm MDF and cut them out.
Many, many minutes later…
Cut out the brickwork on each individual tablet. As for the spikes on the Gothmog A tablets, these are prone to break off during the process. Never mind this; just glue the parts together again.
To make the tablets fit between the fins, you have to bevel the rims with your hobby knife. There's no need for artistic carving here.
Study the picture carefully; it tells you all you ever wanted to know about bevelling…
Glue the Gothmog A elements into place.
If necessary, use your file to improve the fit of these elements.
Glue the Gothmog B elements into place.
Glue the Gothmog C elements into place.
Glue the Gothmog D elements into place.
Use your file to remove all irregularities from the tower base.
Also, use your file to cut the connecting joints between the faces.
While the 'spikes' of the Gothmog A elements are tapered, the adjacent Carchost fins are not. We use some filler to model the transition between both parts (a filler knife becomes handy here!). Use a cocktail stick to make the 'brickwork' imprints.
More filler might be needed for unwanted holes and chinks in the structure. When cured, polish the filler.
