BUILDING THE BLACK GATE

Part three: The Towers of the Teeth

© Lotrscenerybuilder 2009

Step 18:

The middle section of the tower is constructed in the same manner as the base section.
For this section we need:
- a Narchost A element;
- two Narchost B elements;
- four Narchost C elements.
The next picture shows them all. Note that each rib has a sharp edge, like an axe-blade.

Start with gluing the 'front' templates onto 10mm MDF and cut them out. Next, glue the 'backside' templates onto the elements.

TowerTeeth51 border=

You have to draw a central guideline onto the crescent shaped side of each element. Use your ruler to mark down a few centre-points on the lateral face;

Next, draw the guideline.

To produce the axe-blade edge we start cutting away most of the MDF between the guidelines; on the templates it is the pink area that has to be removed.

TowerTeeth54 border=

Again, there's no need for artistic carving; just try to remove as much wood as you dare without crossing the lines.

TowerTeeth55 border=

Use your file to finish the surfaces (there's the Hoover-muzzle again consuming all fibres).

TowerTeeth56 border=

Sand the surfaces only lightly.

Use the Narchost Ground Plan template to assemble the middle section. Start by gluing both Narchost B elements onto the Narchost A element. Next, add all Narchost C elements.
