BUILDING THE BLACK GATE
Part three: The Towers of the Teeth
© Lotrscenerybuilder 2009
Step 20:
Cut off sixteen 0.3cm wide cardboard strips (1mm), each about the length of a sheet of paper (A4). Eight of these strips must have markings at every interval of 0,7cm (there's an example added to the downloads).
Glue the eight unmarked strips onto the middle of the tower base fins; cut off the superfluous lengths.
As for the marked strips intended for the middle section: have them pointed before gluing them into the grooves between the fins (you might note the absence of the 0.7cm marks: an insignificant flaw in our 99.99% perfect construction plan).
Copy the Ringwraith Fang template eight times onto 4mm MDF; cut out the elements, polish the rims and sharpen the upward spike…
… next, glue them onto the tower; study the pictures.
Cut out a few more of these 0.3cm wide cardboard strips (1mm). Start cutting out small triangular cardboard 'teeth' for wall covering (hence the name: "Towers of the Teeth"). There's an example coming with the downloads. We do need five hundred 'teeth' for every tower (that makes, eh… a thousand altogether. If you want to quit, this is the moment…).
Our self-conceit came home to roost…
Every single spike has to be glued onto the cardboard strips by hand: take a spike between your thumb and forefinger, dip it into a drop of glue and place it onto the strip, right between the markings (leave out the first four spikes at the green area on top as shown in the picture).
Close-up of the Ringwraith Crossings…
On the tower base, glue the spikes between the 0.7cm brickwork joints.
